Duckhorn 90 Point Wine Trio
This collection combines the three 90 Point wines from the renowned Duckhorn Wine Company: Goldeneye, seductive Pinot Noir hailing from the cool-climate Anderson Valley; Cabernet Sauvignon from Duckhorn Vineyards, known for its excellent Bordeaux varietals in Napa Valley; and Paraduxx Proprietary Red Blend, a smooth and lush Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot blend.
2013 Cakebread Merlot
Fragrant ripe black cherry, red plum and blackberry aromas, complemented by whiffs of black tea, oak and chocolate, introduce this bold, beautifully structured merlot. Rich and plump on the palate with lush cherry, plum and red currant flavors framed by firm, yet fine-grained tannins, it culminates in a long finish accented by zesty tea-leaf spice tones.Delicious now, this youthful merlot will benefit from another 5-7 years’ aging.
2001 Beringer Ranch Steinhauer Cabernet Sauvignon
Beringer's Steinhauer Ranch, renamed to honor the winery's long-time vineyard manager, Bob Steinhauer, lies just northeast of the town of Angwin, at about 1800 feet elevation. Its soil is volcanic with a richly red color and the texture is friable and loose. When Beringer first planted the vineyard, the distinctive character of the grapes was immediately evident, and it was selected as a regular part of the Private Reserve blend beginning in the 1993 vintage.
Mondavi 2014 To Kalon Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The complexity, power, and sophistication of fruit from the To Kalon site is on full display in this vineyard-designated Reserve, with sweet dark cherry and richly concentrated blackberry fruits; a savory, earthy complexity; and toasty oak, vanilla, and spice which linger through the luxuriously long finish. This vintage's Mondavi Reserve leads with notes of red and black plum, vanilla, dried herbs and pencil shavings; the prelude to a supple, open-knit palate with a good core of juicy fruit and tangy acids.
